Regnum.ru: Saakashvili arms women and children against Russia
Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 8:42AM Another groundbreaking, earth-splitting, sensational and God knows what else translation from Austere Insomniac. :-) The original is here.
Georgian president, Mikhail Saakashvili said that in case of war, women and children have to be armed and ready to 'show resistance against an enemy.' He said so during opening of the new Georgian National Guard building.
As 'Ekho Moskvy' reported, Saakashvili particularly remarked: 'Every city, house, street and family needs to become a bulwark of the resistance, we all have to be ready for war, and in case of emergency we need half-a-million people ready to take up arms, we have enough ammunition and military equipment for everyone. (1)
On that occasion, the head of state underscored: "Every day we are hearing threats against Georgia, there are military games being conducted on our borders. We are under no illusion, there is a war being waged against Georgia and we are being threatened every day. But so should our enemy not succumb to illusion, just as any military adventure will be resisted by evey soldier and officer, so will it be resisted by every citizen. We will never give our motherland up. No matter what type of propaganda, or whatever the threats, we are not affraid of anyone.'
(1) I hope they have enough food and clothing for everyone too
Further Note: Georgia under Saakashvili is getting further more ridiculous. I was frankly so disgusted by the demolition of the World War Two memorial, the reasons behind it and the tragedy that occured in the event, I decided not to blog about it.
Hat tip goes out to Anatoly Karlin and his twitter page.
